9 March 2000 - 6 April 2001

Australian Motorsport Recovery started at the 2000 Melbourne F1 GP. After putting our name down on a waiting list to recover damaged open wheeled cars on the track and take them back to their respective pits. The first year was interesting and learned a lot. This is the first year we attended.

6 April 2000 - 5 April 2001

Whilst attending the first year I was invited to do recovery at more events. They had asked me to do car recovery at Sandown, Calder, Winton, and Phillip Island. They neede a crane truck to assist the tilt trays to pick up the open wheeler category as they are easier and less extra damage if they are picked up off the track. So after consideration I decided to do all the rounds.

6 April 2001 - 4 April 2002

At we found you could be picking up any types of cars. This car a V8 Supercar was on top of the fence so neede to be lifted down.

13 April 2001 - 4 April 2002

I continued doing as many race meetings as I could find time to attend. It did get harder as I became busier and had less available time to spare. Most years I would do the the Melbourne GP. Dad became interested and I had a driver Daryl who would volunteer to do some meetings. I met so many great volunteers along the way who spend a lot of their time at Motorsport events. Motorsport Australia are always looking for volunteers should you be wanting to join.

7 April 2005 - 7 April 2005

At one Motorsport round I heard that due to this accident that a marshal was injured overseas Porsche was looking into making a lifting bar that connects in the roll cage in all GT3 cars.   This would be a fully engineered and would be certified to the cars. Thiis would help prevent this ever happening again.

9 April 2009 - 1 April 2010

I contacted Porsche Cars Australia Motorsport to see if they would be available to purchase. After a long period they said yes they could put me in touch with them to organise the purchase of one.

12 April 2007 - 3 April 2008

All the Late model Porsche GT3 cars have the lifting points already in the roof under a special perforated round sticker. The pins tear the sticker and lock into the roll cage. As the photo shows

10 April 2009 - 17 April 2009

There are many benefits to lifting the cars rather than dragging on a tilt tray truck. If the car has a flat tyre and is un damaged some time they sustain extra damage in the recovery process.

10 April 2008 - 2 April 2009

As you can see how the cars are evenly balanced when un damaged
